I’m so incredibly amped and honored to be a part of this brilliant album by Sacha Robotti!! Collabing with Sacha has been an amazing experience! He really took “The Greys” to magical heights! I couldn’t be happier with how it came out! Can’t wait for you all to hear it on March 13th. The list of talented artists on this project is crazy! Feeling incredibly humbled to be in the mix. Let the dancing commence!!!

Tracking bass today. And yes I feel funny admitting I have a shredder 80’s bass in my arsenal but hear me out. This is a 1988 Barrington BRB-892 loaded with a Bartolini P/J setup. Made in the same factory as ESP back in the day. This thing sounds massive and plays like butta. If you were a bass nerd like I was in the 80’s you knew T.M. Stevens and Randy Coven were rockin these bad boys. There I feel better now. Thanks😂

Composers Breakfast Club knocks it out of the park once again. First the songwriting guru Diane Warren! Holy cow her amount of hits is staggering. And she’s hilarious. Then the brilliant @inara_george blessed us with her amazing voice and songs. I was a fan of The Bird and The Bee as soon as I heard them. She’s an amazing songwriter. And her father Lowell is one of my all time favorites and his music was the soundtrack of my childhood. Just an amazing Monday morning!

I once sold her to my friend Dan in “15” and he was cool enough to sell it back to me after the fire in “18”. So we have a history. I don’t think I’ll let her get away again.

It’s not everyday that you get to have breakfast and listen to BILLY IDOL and world famous photographer Rob Shanahan @shanahanphoto!!!!! So inspiring!! The stories were amazing and uplifting. Huge thanks to both sharing their brilliance!! And thank you once again Composers Breakfast Club!!!

I still can’t believe it. I remember when I first heard Brown Sugar, I was hooked. I knew he was different. But gawd damn when Voodoo dropped the world changed. And then on August 28th 2000 he brought the Voodoo tour to Fleet Boston Pavilion. I’ve seen a lot of world class shows with the best of the best but I tell you there was something magical about that Voodoo show. It felt like the entire audience was levitating, we were all on the D’Angelo spaceship of funk and soul. The electricity running through that place was shocking!!! He just had the entire place in his palm. And with Quest and Pino holding it down I was in heaven. Me being in my heyday of bootlegging shows I dug out these cassettes last night. Listening back to them today brings tears to my eyes. But it also just lets me know how fortunate I am to have witnessed the genius that was D’Angelo. I also saw him in Oakland on the Vanguard tour and they smashed it!! Adding Jesse Johnson to the band was amazing. But there was just something otherworldly about that Voodoo tour. He really did change the game in that moment. Rest easy D’Angelo, thank you for the catalog of genius you left us with 🙏

Got up this morning and checked my email and what a gift I was given. I haven’t been out to Malibu for The Composers Breakfast Club in a minute. Man when I tell you @nowthatsmajor turned my frown upside down. It was my first time seeing him perform. Major brings all the hope and magic. Such amazing vibes! Like going to church. If that wasn’t enough the brilliant voice that is Alex Isley @lovealexisley graced us with her beautiful song. And to cap it off six string magic from @thestringrevolution. The String Revolution is either gonna make you throw your guitar away or get to practicing. … I chose to practice. Truly inspiring. Damn can they play!
